2013 is a very special year for Amsterdam. The city is celebrating several milestones including the opening of the newly renovated Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk and Van Gogh Museums. It is also the 400th anniversary of the historic network of canals designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
As a city renowned for its creativity and innovation, Amsterdam was also the perfect location for Sleepover 2013.
It is one of Europe’s most active cities in terms of new hotel development, thanks to a government-backed initiative led by the ‘Econmische-zaken’ (economic affairs department) to significantly boost the city’s hotel stock.
New independent hotels to have opened in recent years include CitizenM, Conservatorium, Canal House and The Exchange. Brands such as Andaz, Doubletree by Hilton (formerly Mint) and Waldorf-Astoria are also arriving.
Sleepover gave its guests the opportunity to see many of these new hotel developments, and much more besides.
